Cloud VM Providers
Cloud VM Providers
Compare the cloud VM providers that pocketty is tested with, and choose one.
A cloud VM keeps your agents running when your computer sleeps. pocketty connects to it over SSH, like any other host. These providers are tested with pocketty:
- exe.dev: a VM stays on, and its address stays the same. Your phone’s key goes on your exe.dev account. You can also create and delete VMs from your phone, in the exe.dev lobby.
- boat.dev: a sandbox stops on a timer. On the free trial, it stops after at most 2 hours. Each resume gives it a new address and a new host key, but Tailscale keeps one name for it. You add your phone’s key to each sandbox through the boat.dev API.
- boxd.sh: a machine stays on when you turn auto-hibernate off. pocketty connects through Tailscale, because boxd’s SSH proxy cannot carry the connection for herdr. With Tailscale SSH, you do not put a key anywhere.
Any other Linux server that you can reach over SSH works too. See Set Up a Linux Host.
Short-lived sandboxes, such as Vercel Sandbox and Daytona, cannot be hosts. See the FAQ.
