pocketty vs Moshi

Moshi is a good app, with more features than pocketty.
The two differ most in what they send to a server, what they install, and how you pay.
Here is the whole picture, with sources.

Where your agents' words go

pocketty

Your computer seals each alert for your phone. Our relay and Apple only carry ciphertext. Pane text is never in it.

Moshi

moshi-hook sends prompts, messages and the commands you approve to Moshi's server. That is how you can approve from the lock screen.

What runs on your computer

pocketty

The daemon reads agent state from herdr. It touches no agent configs. It never needs the same version as the App.

Moshi

moshi-hook installs hooks into each agent's config files. The App asks you to update it when it falls behind.

What you pay

pocketty

Free for 14 days. Then $99 once, with every update.

Moshi

Free tier. Pro is $9.99 a month or $89.99 a year. Lifetime is $199, or $249 in the App Store.

Where Moshi is ahead

  • Mosh and Eternal Terminal, as well as SSH
  • Approve or deny from the lock screen and Apple Watch
  • Live Activities and the Dynamic Island
  • A chat view of your agents' sessions
  • Hundreds of themes, more fonts, on-device voice models
  • Android, Apple Watch and a desktop app
  • Deep tmux and zellij integration

Where pocketty is ahead

  • Notifications sealed end to end, with nothing kept on a server
  • No hooks or edits in your agents' config files
  • No version lockstep between the App and your computer
  • herdr's Panes and agent states included, not a paid extra
  • Diffs of each agent turn, from snapshots on your computer
  • A file browser, with code in color
  • An SSH key made in the Secure Enclave
  • Key setup with a code you approve on the computer
  • One price, once

Which one fits you

Pick Moshi if you want the most features in one app, you use Mosh or Android, or you want to approve agents from your wrist.
Prompt text then passes through Moshi's server.

Pick pocketty if you run your agents in herdr and want their words to stay between your computer and your phone.
Nothing to install into the agents, and nothing to renew.
